FAQ's
What is included?
Amazing experiences, beautiful terrain, wonderful people, hearty meals, and
equipment. We supply all necessary gear, such as tents, ropes, technical and
cooking equipment, helmets, maps and compasses, even a traveling library.
What about gear?
We will provide you with a comprehensive gear list in your TIP. The
majority of the items you will already own, and you will need to acquire or
borrow those that you don't. Among the gear you will need will be: thermals,
t-shirts, fleece, backpack, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, raingear and hiking
boots with vibram soles.
What are the travel arrangements to the start point and from the end
point?
We know how important information on flights is both to parents and
students. Our travel agent will reserve a round-trip flight for you. Someone
from the staff would be there at the start and end point Airports to assist
you.
Will you contact me before the program starts?
As the summer approaches, you will hear from us frequently with helpful
hints to make your trip a complete success. You'll receive addresses for
sending letters, and a detailed "what to bring" list.
What does the tuition cover in Sail Caribbean trips?
Our tuition includes everything except airfare, spending money, and the
dive insurance required for open-water and certified divers.
What does the tuition cover in AAVE trips?
All accommodations, activities, transportation, meals, laundry, helmet,
skiis/boards/helmet (except on AR unless you rent), tents, etc. Everything
is included. You should be able to fully participate without any additional
expense.
What is not included in AAVE trip?
Airfare to the start and end point, personal insurance and personal items
listed on the equipment list.
Spending money?
In order to cover gifts, film, personal items and impulse purchases bring
no more than $50 per week. We recommend you bring traveler's checks, cash,
or credit card. We will assist you with currency conversion upon arrival.
What is the refund policy?
Prior to May 10, all tuition, except Rs.50,000/-, is fully refundable.
Cancellations must be made in writing. After May 10, there are no refunds
unless you separately purchase insurance from Wilderness Treks or your
travel agency. Unless insured, campers sent home in violation of our rules,
for medical reasons, at the discretion of the organiser, the participant
will not receive a refund. In case of availing the trip insurance
cancellation option, the refund would be paid by the insurance company
directly to the participant. Payment for transporting you home shall be
borne by your parent or guardian directly to the transportation company.

Medical and insurance coverage?
Three types of insurance are included in the
package:
- Optional Tuition Insurance purchased directly from Wilderness
Treks to guarantee your tuition against illness or a simple change
of mind.
- Travel Insurance available from Wilderness Treks to guard you
against major medical injuries and evacuation. Health and accident
insurance being mandatory, Wilderness Treks Pvt. Ltd. has a health
and accident insurance for its participants. This insurance is
provided for each participant who participates with Wilderness Treks
Pvt. Ltd. and includes coverage for all sickness or accidents unless
the participants have their own health and accident insurance. In
the absence of insurance, Wilderness Treks Pvt. Ltd. declines all
responsibility for charges of this nature. The details of the policy
are available separately. TRAVEL INSURANCE IS REQUIRED FOR ALL
INTERNATIONAL TRIPS.
- Medical Insurance: All participants are required to carry
personal medical insurance (also available through Wilderness
Treks). Check your carrier to be sure if coverage is in effect while
on vacation. Medical or dental treatment will be accessed in a
reasonable amount of time at the nearest facility.
Payment for treatment or emergency transport is the
responsibility of your insurance company or family. |
Air travel?
Our goal is to make travel days easy, even for the teen who has never
traveled without family. The cost of Air Travel is included in the package
in Indian Rupees. Airport taxes & visa charges would be extra, as per
actuals.
We require all participants to use the
Wilderness Treks travel service. Booking through our travel office is vital
to successful arrivals and departures and to ensure smooth and coordinated
globe trotting. Booking through Wilderness Treks means that you will usually
be flying with other Wilderness Treks travelers and ensures that Wilderness
Treks is informed of all schedule changes and problems.
You will receive your flight itinerary by e-mail to view on the web. Reply
by e-mail back to give us the go ahead to charge your non-refundable ticket.
Fourteen days before your trip you will receive a travel packet with
everyone in your group's flight information and travel instructions.
On day one of your trip, your respective trip leaders will meet you at your
destination and phone your family to confirm your safe arrival.
Cancellation or modification of program
Wilderness Treks Pvt. Ltd. reserves the right to cancel any of the sessions
mentioned in its brochure due to insufficient numbers of participants or for
any other reasons at the discretion of Wilderness Treks Pvt. Ltd. If this
rare event should arise, Wilderness Treks Pvt. Ltd. will offer to its
participants the possibility of choosing another camp session or program of
Wilderness Treks Pvt. Ltd. or full reimbursement of the money deposited. Due
to the dynamic nature of prices for various services, the trip prices
mentioned are subject to change without prior notice.
