Colorado is known for its high-adrenaline sports, and we jump right in with
two days of whitewater rafting through the world-famous Brown's Canyon.
Professional river guides help us navigate class III & IV rapids as we
pass massive 14,000-foot peaks and camp on the shores of the Arkansas River.
The excitement continues as we scale granite cliffs during two days of
technical rock climbing school. Professional climbers teach us the
essentials of this awesome sport, with instruction geared towards
participants of all ability levels.
Next, we head deep into the Rockies for high-country trekking in the
awe-inspiring Collegiate Peaks Wilderness to pristine mountain lakes and
towering waterfalls. We practice wilderness living, backcountry safety, and
"Leave No Trace" camping methods.
We then make our way to Crested Butte for a day of mountain biking. Near
Aspen, we work on an environmental give-back project with a local nature
center. Finally, we saddle up for an overnight horseback adventure with real
Colorado cowboys. We trot above the vast South Park Range to our backcountry
campsite where campfires, s'mores and star-filled skies await!
» Day 1:
After everyone has met at the Denver International Airport and called home
to confirm a safe arrival, we head to our first campsite in the San Isabel
National Forest. Here we go over orientation, get to know each other and
discuss what can be expected in the next 17 days. We relax and prepare for
tomorrow's adventures!
